Anti-Ragging Cell


Introduction

In compliance with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Educational Institutions, 2009, as outlined under Section 26(1)(g) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, an Anti-Ragging Committee has been established in the college. This committee is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and ragging-free environment for all students.

Objectives

  • To prohibit any form of ragging—verbal, written, or physical—that causes mental, emotional, or physical distress to students.
  • To eliminate ragging from the institution by enforcing strict regulations and taking preventive measures.
  • To create awareness among students about the consequences of ragging.
  • To take appropriate action against those who engage in ragging, in accordance with UGC regulations and existing laws.

Definition of Ragging

Ragging includes but is not limited to the following actions by any student or group of students:

  • Indiscipline, teasing, or rude behavior towards freshers or other students.
  • Disruption of academic activities.
  • Financial extortion or coercion.
  • Physical or mental harassment, causing distress or fear.
  • Use of social media (emails, WhatsApp, Facebook, SMS, etc.) to harass or defame students.
  • Any form of abuse, including physical assault or harm.
  • Violation of a student’s fundamental right to dignity and freedom.
